Artist Statement

I am interested in the subtleties of nature, the human condition and relationships. I tend to focus on these as themes in my artworks and try to capture the emotion or atmosphere of whatever I am creating. My work can be described as expressive, semi-realistic, figurative, deep, and reflective. Expressionism, Impressionism and Romanticism have influenced the style and subject matter of my paintings. I love the work of Andrew Goldsworthy and John Davis and am currently working on nature based assemblages and photography.

 Artist Bio

From the time I was able to hold a pencil until now, I have been passionate about creating artworks. After completing a bachelor in Fine Arts at the 'National Art School' Darlinghurst, Sydney I decided to follow in my mothers footsteps and become a high school art teacher. I taught both primary and secondary at a private school in NSW for 3 years and have now found solace in becoming a mother in VIC. Since having my second child I have taught in a University context and now work part time in a small independent high school for disadvantaged youth. Over the past 2 1/2 years I have been volunteering as an artist to provide relief and therapy for bush fire victims and was employed by Nillumbik Shire Council to run an art therapy group for primary school students who were affected by the 'Black Saturday' bush fires. I look forward to doing more work in art therapy and exploring new mediums as an artist.
